About Us

When we decided to add a dog to our family, the choice was easy – we wanted a Labrador Retriever with the same sweet personality as my brother’s dog - so we contacted his breeder and Lucy came into our lives.  Lucy is sweet, quiet and loves being a homebody.  When it came time to add a second dog as a companion for Lucy, we went back to our breeder and Rose joined our family.  Rose was different from the start - head-strong and fearless; she kept up with me on runs and seemed tireless in her efforts to do so.

As Rose matured, we knew there was something special about her and brought her back to our breeder to see what she thought.  Marilyn confirmed that Rose had matured very nicely and suggested I try to show her at a match show and see how she does.  So, that’s how it all started – they had me at that first ribbon!

I’m proud to say that I showed Rose in April 2008 at the Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac Specialty and she took 4th place in her class.  The “Potomac” is to Labs as the Kentucky Derby is to horses – the best of the best from all over the world. Although she didn't place this year, she still made the cut and we were just as thrilled.

We’ve been blessed to have Marilyn Cerny of Serendipity Labradors as our breeder, mentor and friend and entrust these beautiful girls to us.  We also have the distinct honor and pleasure of being mentored by Micki Beerman of Brooklyn Labradors and Mary Wiest of Beechcroft Labradors.

Nethermead Labradors is no longer a dream but a reality.  Our first litter was whelped in June 2009 – an incredible breeding of our beautiful Rose to AM/CAN CH Woodhull’s Roger That.

Thank you Marilyn, Micki and Mary -- we couldn’t have done this without you!
